Citi Private Pass Music Benefits and Tickets
Citi has a great entertainment access program for its cardholders called Private Pass. Through partnerships with entertainment brands and artists, Citi is able to secure tickets and special benefits to some great shows and offer its cardholders premium VIP tickets to concerts and events. Cardholders also occasionally receive the opportunity to purchase some of these tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
Currently, Citi’s partnerships for ticket access to concerts include:
- Live Nation
- Gen Art
- Madonna
- The Police
- Stevie Wonder
- Counting Crows
If you have a Citi card, you can get tickets before they are on sale for most people and preferred seating packages to shows by the artists listed above. You usually purchase these tickets on Ticketmaster (with your Citi card) and just have to put in the first 6 digits of your credit card number to receive access.
In addition to these great music experiences and tickets, Citi’s Private Pass program also offers access to:
- Dining experiences
- Retail experiences
- Golf tee times (very limited)
- Upscale Night clubs in select cities
You can see a full list of what’s available on the Citi Private Pass website. While Citi’s offers are not quite comparable to the smorgasbord of offers that American Express gives you, Citi is definitely catching up, especially in music.
If you’d like access to these tickets and experiences but don’t have a Citi card, I recommend the Citi Platinum American Express Card. This card will give you access to Private Pass offers AND some of the American Express presale and VIP ticket offers. That’s hard to beat.

New Kids on the Block, Jerry Seinfeld and PGA Championship Access
Every week American Express sends out the Gold Card Entertainment Access email to Gold Cardmembers and above (Gold, Platinum and Centurion). If you don’t have a charge card that gives you great entertainment and travel benefits I’d recommend the American Express Preferrred Rewards Gold Card.
Here are some highlights from this week’s email:
New Kids on the Block VIP Packages - Presale starts May 5 and includes options for a 5-star and 4-star package for the group’s performances in September at IZOD Center and Nassau Coliseum. The 5-star package includes tickets in the first 10 rows, a meet-and-greet, pre-show party and exclusive gift bag. If you purchase the 4-star package you get a ticket in the first 20 rows, an exclusive gift and a coupon for a discount to the New Kids on the Block online store.
Jerry Seinfeld Stand Up for a Cure Benefit Show - VIP Packages for this show at WaMu Theater in New York on June 2 include:
- premium seating
- access to walk the Red Carpet
- invitation to the post party hosted by Kevin Bacon and featuring a performance by the Bacon Brothers
- Cost: $1,250
2009 PGA Championship - American Express Cardmembers can purchase Wanamaker Club and Season tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Presale starts May 1 and runs through May 31. A Wanamaker ticket is $425 and a Season ticket costs $300.
